Monitor Refresh

I have a Win 7 computer with a double monitor setup driven off the motherboard (no video card)... all windows updates applied. BTW double monitors are the BEST productivity update I've ever made!

One monitor is landscape, one portrait ( I do a lot of writing and the later is best for this). Until recently this worked well, BUT my OS on a SSD failed.

I had an old Win 7 OS installation on another partition (as it was before I migrated this OS to an SSD 3 years ago. It was driving the double monitor setup back then too). I was able to use this partition to get up and running again. THEN I cloned this old OS partition to a new SSD. Booted from the new SSD and applied all windows updates.

All works well, EXCEPT the portrait monitor now doesn't refresh properly ie. when typing/editing, the lower half of the screen doesn't refresh and I have to scroll up and down beyond what is displayed to get the text to refresh/display properly.

Any suggestions to fix this problem appreciated.

Did you update your graphics drivers?

You might need to consider a multimonitor utility like UltraMon – not free, but worth it IMO. There is also DisplayFusion, which has a free and pro version.

I first went with a dual monitor setup way back in my W98 days when I bought a fancy new "huge" 17 4:3 monitor, my first LCD monitor and moved my old 15" CRT monitor to the secondary monitor position. I will never go back to a single monitor. I don't see how anyone can live with just one. I go crazy when I have to use my notebook.

Updated the driver. Seems to have done the trick. So far I haven't had a repeat of the problem. Fingers crossed it stays that way! Thanks again for the advice.
