I have a SAMSUNG SyncMaster 171v.... it shuts itself off about every 10 to 12 minutes and I have to unplug it for about 5 minuites then plug it back in and start it up again... Whats up here? its set to "never" in properties as to shutting off after a certain time and its just started doing this of late. Do I need a new monitor? is there a virus that just shuts off monitors? Needs a new driver?? what?

I think your monitor is dying. It may be overheating and turning itself off, or it may have bad capacitors which are sending bad voltages thru the circuits, causing the monitor to shut off. I would replace it.
