I lost my monitor for my computer. So I did the most logical thing and tried another monitor that I knew worked and it doesn't work with it neither, nothing comes up. I have an hp with windows xp home edition windows. Is there an adapter for a monitor so it can be plugged in somewhere else?

What type(s) of video output does the connection on the side of your laptop use? Also what kind of video input did your old and new monitor you're trying to hook it up to use? I guess what I'm trying to get at is, are the plugs different and you're just looking to find an adapter so you can plug it in, or do they use similar video input plugs, but when you plugged in the alternate monitor you get no signal?

I have a desktop not laptop. So the connections are the same and no there is no signal.

If a known good monitor shows no picture, the fault lies in the base unit.

It would be helpful to note what happens to the monitor when you first power up. Does the monitor show any reaction at all? That is change of pilot light colour or no sync notice on screen?

If it is internal is there a way to hook it up with something portable or an adaptor to hook up to a usb port.

If you are getting no video signal there is a fault which could be anything from a fuse to a damaged/loose lead to the power supply, memory, processor motherboard or graphics subsystem.

Post all the information you have about activity from the base unit.

The port it plugs into is loose. And is proably damaged. So what is the solution to this problem. It looks good but is loose. I have opened up the case and the piece inside is solid and not loose but on the outside you can wiggle it.
