so i am going to get a monitor upgrade for xmas, i currently have a nice 19"CRT which i like but in my dorm room its hard to fit, so i am going over to LCD (hesitantly though) i would want something 300-400 price range with good detail and low response time, preferably no dead pixels, on and widescreen is a must, any recommendations for monitors? i am big on graphics and HD movies i have a X800 XT which would support the monitor.

    Any Suggestions?

I have never been a fan of Dell anything, are these LCD's that good i dont want dead pixels and a large(20inch or more) crisp screen, low response time for gaming and no ghosting. why are the dell ones so cheap is there someting they are missing?

I recently got a 20" Samsung LCD I like a lot. View Sonics look pretty good as well.

Nope, they are great. I don't know why they are so cheap, but the 20" Dell has the same LCD panel (Samsung, I think) that is in the Apple Cinema Display. And their dead pixel policy is pretty much similar to anyone else's.
