Monitor Won't Detect

Windows XP won't detect my monitor after switch videocards, i am pretty sure I did it all correct with the drivers and such but I can't get it to detect my monitor like it used to. Help!

 

You switched video cards, like Agp for Agp? Details?
and now you dont have video?

 

Agp for agp, geforce to radeon, I sold the geforce so this is just a temp card for a week or so until I get my 9800. But I used driver cleaner and everything, the actually video drivers seem to work fine it's just the monitor is only detecting as "default monitor" and it's not detecting the res's/hz, ect like it did before.

 

I'm not clear what your problems is.
You have video.
Are your running one monitor, or dual setup.
Your unable to change resolution & refreash rate?

 

No, video works, it's one monitor, it's just it's only detecting it as "default monitor" well before it detected it as "Acer Monitor blah blah blah" as well as detected the refresh rates/res's ect, which it is currently not doing.

 

What ever AGP card your running? do you all your drivers/programs installed?
Can always or should be able to view in, control pannel, Display properties.

 

I have the same problem after switching from an Nvidia GeforceFX 5200 to a 6800 Ultra. It is not a huge problem but it'd be nice to only be able to select the resolutions and refresh rates that actually work for my monitor, which is a Viewsonic G90fb

 

what kind of monitor do you have?

 

Too lazy to quote right now, but it's a really old Acerview 56c, and a radeon 7000 i'm using temperarily 'till i get my 9800, no biggie, i'll reformat when i get my new card anyway
