Monitors Not Staying On

Hey guys, my step son got hold of a refurbished computer upgrade to Win 10. Well every monitor he hooks up to it won't stay on. The monitor flashes the green on light for about three seconds then the orange light comes on and the monitor goes off, they both work on other computers. The PC is a Dell Optiplex 755 Core 2 Duo, Win 1o, 4GB Ram, 160GB HDD. This is all the details I have. Any ideas ? Thanks.

 

Asuming the computer works fine otherwise, it appears the monitors are not getting any signal so are immediately going to sleep. Make they are not being connected to the wrong video connect on the computer.

Possible problems include bad power supply, bad graphics solution, bad CPU, bad motherboard.

Do you hear any beeps? Do you see anything on the monitors before they go off?

 

Hey Digerati, I just finished pulling the RAM out and resetting it and so far it seems to have worked. I'll keep you up to date if something changes. Thank you for your help.

 

Reseating RAM rarely works just because it was reseated. It is more likely it was not seated properly in the first place. Years ago, reseating helped because dust and dirt would get in the connector and interfered with the electrical continuity and reseating would scrape clean the contacts. But for quite a few years, slots were designed to keep dust and dirt out, no matter how dirty it got inside.
