More strange problems....

So, I assumed the HD was bad. Why? I installed an old 5400rpm HD 7.5gb, and everything worked fine. I installed Windows XP Home, all the drivers, and it was working great, so naturally, I figured the original Seagate HD had bad firmware or something. So, just out of curiousity, I imaged the 7.5gb to the Seagate 80gb. That went fine. I tried to boot to the Seagate and I get this error: "Windows could not start because of the following ARC firmware boot configuration problem: did not properly generate ARC name for HAL and system paths. Please check the Windows documentation about ARC configuration options and your hardware reference manuals for additional information." This is a Dell Dimension 2400. OK. So again I figured bad firmware on the original Seagate 80gb. I booted to older 7.5gb and it booted fine. So I again imaged it (Norton Ghost 2002) to a brand new 80gb 7200rpm Hitachi hard drive. The image went perfect. I tried to boot the new 80gb Hitachi, and again I get the ARC/HAL message. I'm gonna flash the BIOS here in a minute; the PC has version A02 and the new version is A05 so maybe that will fix it. In the meantime... ANYBODY????? H E L P ! ! !

Nevermind. Problem solved. Replacing the boot.ini, the NTLDR file and the NTDETECT.com file fixed everything Actually, there's a bit more to it, but in a nutshell...
