I'm sure half the working population does it at some point during the day (not me of course :-D), not surprised politicians got caught at it.

That was Dan's (my man) reaction. I bet they're at attention giving themselves raises.
Guess I'm just politicaled out. (is that a word) :-D

    Mmmmmmmm *ponders my reply* :p

TBH I agree with you Angie and at times in work we need a bit of playtime to relax a bit, I dont play on works PCs as all are monitored (likely same as your work PCs) but I do have a few games on my iPhone.

Not that there is anything radically wrong with it but when you are employed by the Government as I use to be "All Eyes" are upon you and you are being scrutinized 24/7 . It doesn't matter if it was only for a few seconds or minutes the public expects the people they vote into office to give their whole attention to what is going on. Anyway many people can multi-task with out fault and in that field you almost always are doing it.

Just had a thought. Why is that if they are on there laps playing solitaire to relax it means they aren't paying attention, but when they search for things that pertain to the subject at large thats NOT considered not paying attention?! Just a thought/question.

While I wouldnt advocate playing games when you are in a meeting etc, searching for info could be a plus to the conversation topic and knowing a meeting I was at a few weeks back in which all where techies, the laptops, netbooks and smartphones where all in use by many during many of the sessions, most where blogging or twittering as well as looking up info, however ones doing this in the main where still listening to what was going on as they asked very detailed questions at the end.

Not saying that everyone is the same as many have differing multitasking heads, and to be honest in that Gov situation I find it amazing that laptops are allowed in the first place in the debate hall.... although I have seen the live TV sessions of the UKs House of Lords in session and some of the attendees where fast asleep, all depends in some cases if these sessions are in late in the night.

This was regarding a State Budget.
Way too many times in California when they couldn't reach an agreement they just left, at times it was during vacation or holidays where people didn't know if they had a job afterward or not.
Particular educators, homeless shelters, medical clinics, school lunch programs. For some children that may very well be the only meal they get a day.

Some Ca residents in the past have been so frustrated they suggested they don't come up with a budget, they don't get paid until they do.
Well I'm sure that never happened.

There's been some horrible accidents from people not being 100% into what they're doing.

This should come at no surprise. Although I must make a correction to the article stating "fire them all..."they are all elected officials elected by voters. YEAR AFTER YEAR AFTER YEAR the votes keep them in office...

No but obviously they didnt have the planes auto system switched on (ILS) or listening to ATC so they should if not already have been sacked for gross misconduct and endangering lives, but the logic is different IMHO sitting in a debate, conference hall and using a laptop is kinda a bit different to flying a plane and not being in control, degrees of common sense prevail.

They were sacked I believe when they got off the plane :-D Well deserved.

They claim planes can practically fly themselves. They better prefect that IMO, do away with the people all together.
People laugh at me because I won't fly, I say - HA :)
