I'm trying to take the approach of having gone to a foreign country which doesn't speak english...you gotta get with the lingo if you are gonna make it happen

So.....

I make sure I have the right color rig, the right flavor ice cream and then I make sure I drive on the right side of the pavement. Man......when I get to visit the UK again I am gonna get arrested

Right...I'm off to play in the sun now *grins*

 

But you can still hide the engine under a bonnet, and keep the spare tire in a boot, just to confuse us.

Actually, it's a tyre

Yeah..we sure have some funny convos...like the one time I told my husband my car had wings. Heck....he thought I drove about the UK in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!

And there was the time he came to the UK and went off to introduce himself to my friend who lived in the apartment below...it went something like..... "Hi Emma.......I'm Randy....."....and nearly got himself arrested by Emma's cop boyfriend hehehe. (For american viewers......randy in the UK means horny!)

 

See? Confused already.

It means that here too, with a small "r". Hard to tell the difference in conversation. Hehe. I assume that's not a "proper" name in the UK?

 

It doesn't even exist as a name in the UK for exactly this reason...randy just means randy/horny. For the same reasons we only shorten the name Richard to Rich, not Dick. Also Johnny is rarely used...as a name anyway LOL...it means condom.

 

Oh well. Randy is short for Randolph. Any of those floating around over there?

 

Nope...no Randolphs or Randalls

 

Yes, I know one - sister-in-laws' brother and he often shortens his name to Randy. I think there may be a US influence as their parents sisters married GI's during/after WW2.

Surely you've had that currenty pudding with custard - Spotted D?

...and I thought you newly weds only had time for each other.
