Most dangerous animal in Africa ...

So according to the Smithsonian, "hippos kill more people each year than lions, elephants, leopards, buffaloes and rhinos combined."

Bad news is my wife recently had a very close-up encounter with one.

Good news is everyone was OK - just got a bit wet and lost a shoe (plus soaked my camera) ... along with a bite-sized chunk outa their canoe - yikes! Hippo attack details here.

Africa has been top of my list of a place to visit for a photographic safari *sigh* A friend has been hanging out waiting for me to get time organised...(been a long wait:zzz...still waiting). So envy what your wife does for a living (except for hippo encounters!:eek)

 

legalsuit: Yea, highly recommended to go if you can - I got to join my wife 8 years on an African Safari. Digital Photography Technology has come a really, really long way since then, so I'd love to go back and "shoot" the animals again.
