It all started the other day when my wife won a 22" widescreen LCD TV. So, it's all her fault.

Anyway, while I was mounting the thing in the kitchen for her it occured to me what a great monitor it would make. My old 19" has been acting up of late.

Long story short, I went out and bought a 26" Sanyo (things got more inputs then Sybil on a bad day!), carted it home and hooked it up.

Phenomenal is the only word. :drool

However I was almost instantly hit with buyer's remorse . . . I didn't really need it. I just wanted it. I've always thought of myself as a frugal person - in my younger years money was always tight, especially when it was just me and my sons. I felt a bit weird about it - it was just 13 years ago I agonized for a half hour over spending 20 bucks on a USB card . . . now I'm dropping three C's for a monitor on a whim. I decided to take the damn thing back.

Then I played WoW with it, among other games.

    It ain't going back, folks :-D I'll live with the remorse . . .

Not long ago, well a few months ago I got a Samsung 42inch LCD TV I got it home looking forward to the HD goodness but was SEVERELY disappointed with the frame rate,I would advice people never get a 42inch LCD with a refresh rate of 50hz.I kept it for it week and tried to persuade myself I could live with it but I couldn't so I took it back and exchanged it for a 40 inch SONY Bravia which was a couple of C notes more expensive and 2 inches smaller.

At the time everyone around me said it was too much for a TV,a waste of money ect. ect and even I had buyers remorse but after living with the TV for a few months I can say its the best money I've spent in a long time, even to this day I'm still blown away by how good the picture is.

Oh yeah recently my 8gb walkman died,I tried the new 16gb version and it sucked 'low volume due to new EU regulations' so I returned it but I didn't want to go back to 8gb so the only option was to plumb for an IPOD something I swore I'd never do and what's worse it was an expensive ipod 'to me anyway' 160gb classic ,so I thought "sod it!" there in the store and bought it.I still have the buyers remorse you talk of over that one though,it is loud enough and I can store all my music on it but I still hate Itunes and sometimes it bugs me so much I pine for my money back:-D

When all you had to do was to buy a Sansa player and flash the North-American firmware on it... :innocent

I've not seen an Sansa players in the retail shops over here and I don't buy electronic goods from online stores.

But I was limited as to what could get as I'd just returned my walkman so I had to use a credit note at that store, there wasn't much choice really.

I loved my S series walkman sooo much I'm still looking for one in all the pawn shops.:)

I've been on a bit of a spending spree in the last month, too. I bought a 52" plasma TV, and digital movie cam and a laptop. Well that was the major stuff, anywho. One way to spend the end of financial year surplus, I guess.:major

Uhg, I could make frivolous purchases.. maybe after I pay them to break the cloning mechanism I can finally afford something. Of course, every time I look at my son and smile he has to run all the way across the room and hug & kiss me while giggling. So I'll keep him. Plus he figured out how to screw up the bios on his daddy's computer so it still ran just fine, but couldn't play WoW and i got him to do some chores.. he was the best compulsive aquisition ever.

It you want to hear about some frivolous purchases just hold on to your butts cause I got some you wont believe. Starting back in February when I got my tax return, all $915.00, The first thing to come my way was a new computer (Averatec $345.00) then after the cats chewed thru the keyboard cord came a new wireless combo keyboard and mouse. I needed some headphones and they were $38.00 +shipping.I couldn't hook up my old printer to my new computer so there was an other $78.00 and wireless.Oh did I mention the speakers to listen to music at $14.00 and they are USB digital. I still had a little money left and I did promise my granddaughter a new tv ,so the next purchase was not 1 but 2 26 inch RCA flat panel TV's with built in DVD players, $736.00 free shipping. My daughters tv went on the blink too so she then got a Westinghouse 26 inch for her bedroom. They worked pretty good but I could not watch tv without a siginal so now it cost $151.00 per month for HD satelite tv reception to all 3 bedrooms and the downstairs livingroom. To hang the tvs on the wall I got 3 wallmounts from Monoprice.com for a total of $58.00 FOB. Next came HDMI cables from you guessed it Monoprice.com $2.89 each times 3 plus a cable for the computer hookup, SVGA with audo hookup $4.15. Now I was done spending cause I used up all my tax return money.
But wait my truck(1994 Dodge Dakota) deceided to go on the Fritz , needing a new water pump among other things. Oh my what am I to do? Well hello internet. I started looking around and oh I like that and I like that, what do I want? I settled for a 2010 Dodge Nitro Heat 2 wheel drive, list $22915.00. I dickered and waited and dickered more until I got the deal I liked, all over the internet. When I went to pick up the SUV it was washed and cleaned and gassed up for me at the price I bargained for. And I did get a deal several thousand dollare less than dealer cost.
Now about me. I retired 11 years ago and have had cancer removed from my lungs. I had cateracts removed from my eyes and new lens put in. I went 4 years cancer free then was told it was back and given 6 months to a year to live. It is stage 4 non operable lung cancer. that was 4 years ago and I'm still here. In 2 weeks I will find out if I have it again. It just wont go away and neither will I. I also have emphazema.
Now be glad for what you have and enjoy the fruits of your labor and don't let costs get in the way of what you want. FRIVOLOUS?

Got myself 2 pairs of Ecco walking sandals. Don't look chic and very expensive but it's like walking on a cloud. Have taken up walking every day from 40-60 min daily. I've got shoes galore just to sit and look pretty but have *outgrown* them because comfort is #1 now. :)
