Motherboard not detecting Sound Card?

Does anyone have an idea why it wouldn't detect it? It does have onboard sound that I haven't attempted to use. I plugged in the Sound card and it detects new hardware but I don't have the CD for it. So I don't initially install the drivers. It doesn't list it as Sound Blaster Live in the device manager either. I found some drivers online that should work, but when I go to install them it says install wizard doesn't detect a sound blaster live plugged into a PCI slot or motherboard.?

I did move it to another PCI slot already too.

 

I believ you need a CD.

 

If you've got the onboard sound active, Windows may have already identified that and installed drivers for it, even if you've never used it.

In any case, you need to remove any sound drivers you've currently got installed and disable the onboard sound either in BIOS, or via motherboard jumpers, whichever applies to your motherboard.

THEN plug in the PCI soundcard and try installing it.

CD isn't necessary, as long as you've got the proper driver files for it.

 

Ye i had this problem with a SB 5.1 and after getting drivers go to Cntrl panel/sounds & audio/Audio and configure default device to SB..(as it may be on configured to onboard sound).Then go to advance and make sure its set to 5.1 surround.
