Motherboard

Hi, i'm going to be upgrading my PC soon. And need a good base.
I need a motherboard which contains PCI-E slots,
Dual core processor ability, either AMD or Intel. I'm yet to decide which is best to go for.
2 IDE slots as my HDD and disk drives run from them and don't have money yet to go to SATA, but also SATA as i do blan to upgrade,

Also if possible, Able to take DDR & DDR2 Ram.

Any good suggestions? However i don't have a great deal of cash to spend, So cheaper the better, as long as they're stable.

My son killed MY rig... So, he got a little bit of money from college and he decided to buy a new one ( gave to him the case the floppy and the CD-DVDRW) he bought a MSI mobo, a 3.0 Intel processor, 1Gig 667-DDR memory and a 256 Video card, he spent $454.00 dollars for the pack. What do you think???? It is not the top of the line but runs ok, actually I Am posting this with it.
