No. Motorola phone tools is not free, but is the way to go. If you have Verizon, forget it, the phones are so locked down, you cant do squat. I have Cingular, wife has Verizon, I can do all sorts of things that are impossible with Verizon's software.

Agreed, I have a SLVR and the only thing that will work with it is Motorola Phone TOols. (after updating the software numerous times so it will finally support that type of phone) although thats on a uk network O2

Yup! You won't find anything better than the Motorola software. Motorola is all about the proprietary, "black box" technologies. Nothing goes in or goes out, except what they say. (Although a talented technician with intimate knowledge of the phone COULD emulate it, you'll be hard-pressed to find it) That's why Apple likes to use their chips. Macs are total "black boxes"

I have had a RAZR V3xx (T-Mob Branded) for some time now. I have 2 comps. One runs XPsp2, and the other 98se.
Both PC's recognize it as a V3 upon connection.
The XP comp has the correct drivers installed, and didn't seems to have a prob with Mot Phone Tools, aside from a ' Error loading Telephony Services' error that's keeping me out.
The 98 comp can istall the divers, but anytime I restart, theres an error in the device manager on it. As for the Mot Tools on 98, they can't detect a thing, even when the driver is functional.
Have tried many ver. (driver & Mot Tools), and driver update attempts.
If there is anyone out there that could help find a resolution to either prob. I would be very grateful.
    Thanx, DS
