I tried to find a topic already posted on this, but was not successful. I run windows XP home edition. I use Ad-Aware SE 1.06, AVG AntiVirus and Anti Virus edition 6. All three of these programs shows no problems.

However, when I'm using IE 6.0 my cursor get's highjacked and go's primarily to the start button, or some times to the top left corner. If I stop moving the mouse for 15 seconds the cursor will be released, then I can go forward with what I want to do. If I don't stop moving the mouse the cursor will try to open programs from the start button ( and try to open additional programs). I then run the above Anti-Virus or Spyware programs and they show no problems.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure it is not a hardware issue with your mouse and keyboard? I have seen crazy mouse syndrome (erratic mouse movements and clicks) when the mouse gets worn out.

If you think it is a malware issue, continue with the below steps.

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps below:

    - Download HijackThis 1.99.1

    - Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

    - Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

    - Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

    - Run HijackThis and save your log file.

    - Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).

    Thank You, Chaslang
Problem solved by replacing mouse. I didn't realize how disruptive a mouse could be when it wears out. It was opening programs and changing computer settings, like the computer was hijacked. Issue closed.
