Mouse Disappears

I am running XP Home, and randomly, my mouse pointer has started disappearing or stopping in place. Once it is gone or stopped though, it still allows me to move around the invisible pointer and click on things. I went into the mouse settings and enabled mouse pointer trails, which somewhat my problem during regular windows use, I can see the pointer, but as soon as I disable pointer trails, the pointer disappears again. Also, during games, my mouse disappears completely regardless of trails. I have updated my mouse drivers, but that didn't help. Please help, thank you.

 

The problem fixed itself after a bunch of restarts.
