Mouse/HD relationship

Something strange is going on. It seems like my HD won't run unless the mouse is actually moving. For example, I was trying to load my mp3 player last night and it would only load while the mouse was moving across different windows or toolbars. I've noticed this with other software too, like internet access (Mozilla). It'll stop loading a page unless I move the mouse. It seems to get worse the longer the computer's on. It's Windows ME, a Logitech cordless mouse and (I think) a Maxtor 40G HD. What's going on?

In the first instance, I would replace the cordless mouse with a p/s2 variety and check whether this resolves the strange problem which you have.

Cordless mice can be very difficult at times and sometimes do not behave at in the manner advertised by the manufacturers.

    Good Luck
