Thought i should post this in here and at the hardware section. Here's the problem:

Around 4 PM today, I had just downloaded a WMA off of a website and I tried to play it. My computer opened it with Zoomplayer only to have it crash and give me a glimpse of the blue screen of death. It immediately restarted itself but, I caught a glimpse of something about memory.

I don't really know exactly what happened afterwards, but my mouse decided to start having a mind of its own. As I am typing, my mouse is moving by itself and also clicking on random things, making it hard for me to type this post. I thought it might have been a virus or a trojan, but I ran all the scans (Spybot S&D, HijackThis, and Symnatec Antivirus) and nothing came up and I couldn't find anything strange or unusual in the logs.

Now, the worse part is, I tried to unplug my mouse and replug it in to see if it was a problem with the mouse. Once I unplugged it, the cursor started moving on its own and clicking on things before i even plugged it back in!

The mouse is a logitech, MX518 mouse, approximately 10 months old. I am running the read me first steps, and I've attached the MGlogs zip, combofix.txt, and the avg scan txt. I don't think the two problems (the crash and the mouse funkiness) are exactly related...

    PLEASE HELP! :cry

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

The only potential malware item I see is Clubbox and it may be no coincedance that you just recently downloaded it too. Uninstall it. Then reboot. Then make sure the below files have been deleted

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\clubbox.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ClubboxUninstall.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\grdmgr.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\nod.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\fscagent.ini.tmp
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\fscflist.ini.tmp
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\fscagent.ini
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\fscflist.ini

You also have 9 outdated versions of Sun Java installed!!

Uninstall the below old versions of software:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 1
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 2
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 4
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9
    Java(TM) 6 Update 2
    Java(TM) 6 Update 3
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1

Make sure you reboot after uninstalling the above!

After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

Also you have left overs from Trend Micro to clean up.

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

O23 - Service: Trend Micro Central Control Component (PcCtlCom) - Unknown owner - C:\PROGRA~1\TRENDM~1\INTERN~1\PcCtlCom.exe (file missing)
O23 - Service: Trend Micro Real-time Service (Tmntsrv) - Unknown owner - C:\PROGRA~1\TRENDM~1\INTERN~1\Tmntsrv.exe (file missing)
O23 - Service: Trend Micro Personal Firewall (TmPfw) - Unknown owner - C:\PROGRA~1\TRENDM~1\INTERN~1\TmPfw.exe (file missing)
O23 - Service: Trend Micro Proxy Service (tmproxy) - Unknown owner - C:\PROGRA~1\TRENDM~1\INTERN~1\tmproxy.exe (file missing)

NOTE: HJT may popup an error about the above. Ignore it and click OK to continue.

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Are you still having problems? If so, I suggest you work in the Hardware Forum but I would first suggest uninstalling your Mouse drivers and software and then rebooting and reinstalling.

Before I saw your post, I had decided to reformat my whole computer!

I spent the last several days reformatting it... I am so thankful for your response and I will try your solutions if the problem occurs again with clubbox...

However, I have been using clubbox for the last two or three months with none of these problems... I just saw my mouse move again... though i have replaced the mouse... I am starting to think it's either a hard drive problem/cpu/psu problem or another problem that i put below. For now, I am wondering what's wrong with my computer. I will get back to you if my situation changes even AFTER the reformat.

The thing that I thought was the most interesting however was that during the reinstallation process for XP, my mouse started to move on its own. I immediately thought it was my mouse itself, but now that I'm using a mouse borrowed from a friend, I'm not sure why my mouse is still moving by itself.

Now I think that it may be a Setpoint (Logitech software) problem. You see, the mouse I have is some noname brand... but I think that the system is recognizing my wireless keyboard + wireless mouse combo, instead of just recognizing my wireless keyboard and my wired mouse separately.

I'm betting that that's the problem. I will be changing my keyboard to another one soon, though it will be kind of sad for me to part ways with it... :( but i guess you have to make some sacrifices!

I'll let you know if that fixes the problem!

So, I replaced my keyboard, put my old mouse (MX518) back into a usb port, and uninstalled Setpoint...

For now, all is well with my mouse, but if anything should change I will let this forum know... I have googled for a fix on this but I havent been able to find anything!

Thanks for all your hard work and I hope we will resolve this issue permanently!

    You're welcome.

Greater than 95% of all issues like this with a mouse moving on its own, have been either hardware issues or driver issues.
