I'm not sure whether this belongs in this sub-forum but here goes:

I've noticed this in Unreal Tournament '99 and most recently Aliens vs Predator 2. Randomly while playing single player or multiplayer (more frusturating), my character (or weapon if you will) will look either up or down and spin in circles. This lasts no more than 5 seconds but when playing online that's all it takes from letting you get one more frag, or simply stay alive.

In addition, I've noticed while using the computer outside of a game, the mouse/cursor will quickly jump to either corner of the screen (obviously without my control). This probably is related to the problem I have with UT and AvP.

My mouse is a Logitech HID-compliant Wheel Mouse. I have driver version 9.79.0.0

I have a similar problem but dont play either of those games. Yeah its kinda annoying but for me it doesnt happen that often, maybe once every day or 2. I have yet to find a fix but have been told it could be just a dirty optical sensor (spec of dust causing a wierd reading). maybe try cleaning it off with some rubbing alcohol and a q-tip? A nice mouse pad might help too. If u find a fix, let me know

If your mouse is optical, chances are it's the surface the mouse is on. I have a mousepad that has spots smoother than others, and sometimes the cursor will tweak out and do what you said. Try other surfaces like mousepads, coasters, or other flat objects and see if they help.

Alright, I'll see if that works over the next few hours. If it happens again, I'll post. If it doesn't happen after 24 hours, I'll post and say that it worked. Thanks for the tip. :)

The mousepad works great. I haven't had any problems lately with AvP or while using the computer at all. Thanks a lot ShockTroop! :p

another thing that will help when this happens is pick your mouse up off your mouse pad slightly and turn it sideways. you will notice the light go from bright to dim then put it back down. Might not be the fastest, but it does work. optical mouses can act goofy sometimes.
