Hey guys, I'm haveing trouble with a ps/2 mouse. Old mouse wasn't working correctly....would only move horizontaly across the screen. Replaced it with another mouse, and it wouldn't work at all. Tried hooking up the old mouse again...and now it won't work at all.

My first thought was to uninstall the mouse driver through device manager, but neither the mouse nor any other pointing device is listed in device manager! Could the ps/2 port be bad? Or is there something more obvious that I'm not getting?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Boot to Safe Mode. Go to the Control Panel > System > Device Manager
Then delete all the mice (mouses :) ). Reboot and let the system redetect the mouse. This should get rid of any ghost mice/ mouse.

I tried that with no luck......so I assumed the ps2 port had gone out. Made a 6 hr round trip expecting to have to swap the pc....luckily, I brought an extra mouse....hehe...the spare was a dud! 6hrs round trip to CHANGE A MOUSE!

    Thanks for the suggestion though
