Mouse Pointer Irratic After Last Microsoft Update (windows 10)

Hello Guys.

After a Microsoft Windows 10 update about there weeks ago my cursor (both mouse operation and touch pad) has been erratic.

It will work OK (more or less) in one open window whist not working at all in another. On a spreadsheet it sometimes without warning scoots off to a column about 3000 columns to the right. When placing the cursor into a text box it sometimes will not change to an insertion point. I could go on. This is driving me crazy. Occasionally it will stop working completely on the desk top so I can't even shut down.

Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to correct the issues?

So far I have reloaded the mouse software, but that made no difference but I did not expect it to as the touch pad is also irratic.

 

Panic over.
I have disabled the touch pad which I hardly ever use anyway.
Now the mouse operation appears to be OK. I'll report back if this is not a complete solution.
I will try to enable the touch pad when I have caught up with work to see if the problem returns.

That look like a great bit of clever manipulation of various elements of Windows. But for me I will stick with what I have done. I never use the touch pad except if absolutely necessary so a manual enable is not a problem.
