I recently purchased a new hp pavilion computer and i am trying to use an optical mouse (ibm model mo28bo) that i had at home. The mouse has alway worked fine on my old computer. The problem is that it sometimes does not "start" when i first start my computer in the am. If i unplug it and plug it back into the usb port it comes on and works fine, I also get a "new hardware message bubble in the lower rt. of my desktop. I tried uninstalling the mouse through the device manager and then installing a cd (i assume its the driver cd) and still no luck. Any ideas?

    Shef,

I checked the IBM website and was not able to find any updated drivers for Windows XP. Here is another question for you. Is it having trouble detecting the mouse before or after Windows begins to load? If it's before, then you probably have a BIOS issue. Go into your BIOS and make sure that USB Mouse Compatibility is enabled. If that doesn't work then it's probably a driver issue, but it's more likely to be a bug with Windows. Or, it could be a bad USB port. Try buying a USB to PS/2 Converter.

    Hope this helps.
