Hi, I have a wired PS2 Mouse which was working fine till the other day when it started to behave oddly.
Its clicking so rapidly to make a single click a double click.
If I click in a Drop down Menu in a web page, it also invariably clicks on the toolbar icons.
In a dialogue box, a click on 'Next' instantly clicks on other 'Nexts' so rapidly without allowing me to customize.
I tried to slow it down in Control Panel settings to no avail.
    Please suggest a workaround.

Usually this signifies a bad 'clicker' switch in the mouse. You can pick up a new generic PS2 or USB mouse for under $10 at any PC store, a used one shouldn't be over $4, or maybe even $1 at a thrift store. If you go with a PS2 mouse, be sure to power down the PC before you plug it in otherwise you'll think the mouse is no good and you run the risk if 'blowing out' the PS2 mouse port - regardless of what people say, I've seen it happen. A USB mouse is safe to plug in with the PC powered on, but not a PS2 mouse.
