Mouse quits working

I use a microsoft optical mouse blue and the darn thing just shuts down while gaming about every 15 minutes.Then i unplug it,plug it back in to another USB port and it works for about another 15 mins.Im a hard core Comand and Conquer Renegade player and i really use the heck out of the mouse.I also have 3 other (mice?) that the left button wont work.This is my 4th mouse over the past 2 years. No virus,no spyware.Im about to buy another mouse but looking for a little advice first.I use a HP Pavillion WinXP, sp2 ,2.53GHz.512mb. thanks. cat seeker

Is the USB hub you are using self powered and does it have any other devices plugged into it?

I also use a Micro$oft optical mouse and have found that it prefers to be on a powered hub all on its own.

 

Yargwel..sorry I took so long to get back to say thanks.Im new at PC's and I'm a 53yr. old dummy.This is the first forum I've ever been in and besides not knowing exactly what to do,I keep getting lost!Anyway, I dont know what a powered hub is,but dont think I have one. I got a new Micrsoft optical 3000 and so far works good.If it quits I'll try the hub thing...

 

OK if you need help in determining which USB hubs are powered just shout.
