    Dear volunteers of MajorGeeks,

See enclosed all the prescribed logs, including the HijackThis log. Unfortunately my mousepointer freezes randomly (gets worse after working longer).

Help would be very much appreciated (analysis of HijackThis log). Note that Roguekiller identified Audiogalaxy.exe as a thread.

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

We did not ask for HijackThis log ( especially from a version that has not been used in 4 or 5 years ) and really do not need one as they are not really of much use these days. We did ask for logs from TDSSKiller and MGtools though and do need those to properly check your PC for malware.

What makes you think it is a malware problem rather than a Windows problem?

    Dear Chaslang,

    Happy newyear!
Thanks for your reply. I now attached the logs from TDSSKiller and MGtools. In the meantime I did some research and I believe that my desktop was hit by Babylon, funmoods and 1 click downloader. I ran the JRT (Junkware Removal tool) which did delete some registrykeys related to babylon. However, when performing a search in the register I still get values related to babylon and funmoods (f.i. C:\Program Files (x86)\Babylon Toolbar\BabylonToolbar\1.5.3.17\uninstall.exe). Should I delete them all?

By the way the reason that I ran a hijackThis log is that this was mentioned on the MajorGeeks site [...].

    Hope you can help me.

    Thanks in advance!

Yes but the instructions state not to. See the below sticky/pinned thread

    Forum Rules and Guidelines

Did you run JRT before or after running MGtools? Also before or after running Hitman Pro?

Attach the log from JRT. Also rerun a scan with Hitman Pro and attach the new log.

Per your logs, you did not disable UAC as requested. You must disable UAC and reboot after disabling for it to take effect. Also leave it disabled until we are finished.

    Also do the below.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

I ran JRT after running MGtools. See enclosed the logs of Hitman pro and JRT.
I disabled UAC (put down the slider completely downwards)
I did manage to run the registry edit (received a message indicating the register keys were added to the registry)
Could it just be that the only way to improve the performance (and get rid of the 'stubborn' moisepointer is to reinstall Windows 7)? It's been two years since the last clean install.

I don't know for sure what your problem even is but it does not appear to have anything to do with malware. You really only had minor adware/junkware. You problem may be related to what you are running and what things you have done in the past. Perhaps running performance enhancement tools, registry cleaning tools....etc. All not recommended and typically they lead to problems in the long run.

It should not be necessary to reinstall just because you have not reinstalled in 2 yrs. I have a PC with WinXP that runs perfectly fine and it has been running since the day Win XP first came out. And the PC, I'm typing on right now has been running Vista since it first came out and it also runs perfectly fine. I have never needed to run any performance enhancing programs, registry cleaner...etc. Anything that you really need to do can be done manually. The only cleaning sometimes needed is to run a disk cleaner to remove junk temporary files. And perhaps a disk defrag once in awhile if you do lots of installing/uninstalling or create lots of large files and deleting of them.

You can try posting in the Software Forum. I recommend that you first check to see if your mouse pointer problem occurs in safe boot mode. If not, if may be related to a driver or software you load in normal mode but not safe mode.

Since you are not having malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Go back to step 4 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    7. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Thanks for the advice. I'll reconsider using registrycleaners based upon your opinion. I think it probably has to do with the fact that I did some tweaking to optimize my desktop as an audiostation. I do work with very large files, but then again I regularly perform a defrag/ run CCleaner. What could be a weak point is that I disabled the firewall from Windows but didn't install a separate one like the ones that are mentioned here on MajorGeeks. But then again malware isn't the cause.

You're welcome. Again I recommend testing in safe boot mode just to see what happens. It would be useful info to add to a post if you decide to post in the Software Forum.
