Does anyone know if there is a program that I can use to move my pagefile to the fastest part of my hard drive, the outer tracks?

Diskeeper doesnt offer this, which I find a bit odd.

Don't know if this helps, but O&O Defrag Pro 6 has a defrag option to defrag the files and sort them according to when they were last accessed. See screenshot.

As for defragging the page file, I use Sysinternals handy little PageDefrag v2.21: http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/pagedefrag.shtml

    Chris,

Do you have your pagefile set to a fixed min and max? If so, what's the set size?

Well, in that case, I think you'll find that if you download and install PageDefrag 221, then run it and select Defrag Next Boot, and THEN, BEFORE you reboot, use your defragger, and look at the graph when it's done. The largest green block shd be your pagefile, I think.

Now when you're done with the defragger on the system drive, reboot. PageDefrag will run during the bootup. Then when the boot finishes, go back to defragger and run it again, and I think you'll find that PageDefrag has kicked your page file way down to the right end of the graph space, and that's what you want done.

Nice review Kodo :) . I think you're spot on with your rating.

I too noticed the hit in CPU performance, so I ended the service shown in your screenshot of the Task Manager and now I have the service oodag.exe running with a little less memory usage (I don't schedule defrags).

Have a look at this Kodo: http://forums.zonelabs.com/zonelabs/board/message?board.id=AllAboutPorts&message.id=1180

So I guess that my choice in disabling oodcnt.exe was a good one (from a security standpoint, although I imagine it just checks the license  ) . I have had no problems with running the program as long as oodag.exe is running (will only connect to 0.0.0.0 -another form of 127.0.0.1: localhost).

Now if I disable oodag.exe and try to start O&O then it will show what is in the attached screenshot.........self explanatory really :) .

    Jade.

yeah, the access out is harmless, it's a spray or it goes to 127.0.0.1 which, of course you know, is local.

This is the sort of thing I wanted you to see. It's the graphic Before display from my native defragger. The green block way down there is my pagefile.

this may answer that question Kodo http://forums.zonelabs.com/zonelabs/board/message?board.id=AllAboutPorts&message.id=1180

I have used O&O for years and find it one of the best, your review is pretty much bang on :)

and yes that service accessing through ZA goes nowhere apart from locally as even my router doesnt flicker any outgoing traffic...
