moved hard drive, but now missing game progress

i don't know if this is the correct forum, so fogive me if it is not.

i bought a new(to me) computer so i took my hard drive that i had in my old computer with all of my games installed on it and put it in this new one (that was a whole other ordeal in and of itself!)

BUT now when i go to play a game, it is as if i am playing it for the first time, none of my progress is there!

i am assuming there are some files somewhere that stores that info, but why wouldn't it be in the same drive/folder where the game was originally installed and played from? can i get all my progress back??

i figured this out.........

in case anyone else comes across the same problem, check in your registry.

some newer games and now being saved in the registry, to prevent lost data from uninstalling games and what not.

i just copied them from the old computer and imported them to my new one...now everything works fine for those games.

for other games i just had to search my hard drive...a pain in the butt, there are files saved everywhere...sometime to even 2 different folders. most are in c: doc and settings/all users or owner/application data.........but you basically just have to check everywhere..........

does anyone know a way around that? i guess not since i don't get a choice of to where they are being saved. i thought since i was downloading and installing them to my additional had drive that everything would be there....was i wrong!!
