There was a debate on a local radio station this morning about the best Movie Soundtracts.

    Some that were mentioned were..

    The Commitments.

    The Blues Brothers.

    Platoon.

    And Pulp Fiction.

What movies did have the best soundtracts?

Great soundtrack and luckily we've just had a Stanley Kubreck seasion on TV and 2001 was on last week, still a classic.

Soundtracks for me other than the aforementioned are:

    Alexander ~ Vangelis
Bladerunner ~ Vangelis ( Vangelis again BUT this one IMO is a classic, like most if not all of his music anyways )
Bourne Ultimatum ~ John Powell ( Tangiers track is superb for playing LOUD, His latest is Hancock) )
Ghost In The Shell ~ Kenji Kawai
Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence ~ Ryuichi Sakamoto & David Sylvain
Firestarter ~ Tangerine Dream ( also did the soundtrack Risky Business with Tom Cruises in his early career)
Near Dark ~ Tangerine Dream ( superb vampire movie, if you not seen this one do so )

    There are many others

That's a good one too!! Good cenimatography too...and in that day we really thought we were really on the bleeding edge of technology!!

What's really sad...movies that were a hit when I was a teen (Top Gun) are now on AMC all the time!!

Platoon's was good. I liked Black Hawk Down as well. It had a nice mix, and for purely slow music the Gladiator soundtrack was good.

For something more off the beaten path, Juno had a nice independant/alternative soundtrack with songs from bands I've never heard of.
