Moving cursor

    I have a cursor that will move vertically and horizontally, but never diagonally, when mouse is perfectly still; no vibrations on desk, just absolutely still.
    I have had problems with mice freezing on this Vista machine; this is my third mouse. But this one never freezes, just moves on its own.
    Any ideas besides buying yet another mouse? Thanks.

    is this a desktop of laptop? and what model/brand i have encountered problems on laptops where the touch pad is messed up and keeps on moving the cursor.
