I've moved up on the East Side with my new (refurbised, sratch and dent) Dell XPS. This computer is way faster than my PIII lapton.

I defragged my 160GB HD in about 10 minutes. My laptops 20GB takes hours to defrag.

I was surprised to find out that I could hook this up to a TV, and record live TV too. Though, I don't have a Dell TV, my RCA scenium has alot of potential.

Congrats on the new PC, nothing like new hardware to get excited about :)

    Enjoy :)

    New comps are always fun.

I plan on getting one soon. I don't know what I want, though.

    Haven't shopped around enough.

I was in process of doing similar and a new PC, but have shelved building a new one until I have the RTM version of Vista and a clearer idea of what hardware will run it best, by that time it will be christmas and alot more newer adn faster CPUs, HDs, RAM etc will be available... so still using my PC of 4yrs.. which is quick enough still.

My only comp is my laptop(3 yrs old) and I really have an itch to get a desktop with more storage and mutimedia capabilities. I'm not much of a pc gamer(I like consoles), but if I build a good enough system I might become one.

I have been surfing tigerdirect all night tonight.

My pc is supposed to be Visa compatible. But, I'm not in a hurry to upgrade.

Congrats on the new Dell. I love 'em even tho their support for home units have taken a nosedive. I always purch mine thru a small business and get stateside support.

You will find that no matter the make or model or brand etc., etc., etc.,....if it works and does what you want without any hassle, then ofcourse it "ROCKS"...however...No matter how good, Dell still has a little to be desired!!!!!

I'd take a Dell in a heartbeat over any of the other well-known OEM'ers out there (HP, Compaq, Gateway).

Gotta say that I'm a little more fond of HP over Dell!!!!

I would have to agree. My HP laptop has given me virtually no problems compared to my Dell laptop. I use Latitudes at work and I just don't care for them.

I probably shouldn't mention my ialmrnt5 driver issue with the intel graphics card. If I leave my pc idol, it goes to 4bit color, and small screen size. I've tried all the drivers, and restoring to faculty settings per my chat session with Dell Support. Now, I've decided to just turn my pc off when I'm not using it.
