Mozilla Firefox or IE - can't get to Gmail account

I have an issue getting in to my Gmail account and get the following after logging in:

    https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLoginAuth

It says Done at the bottom of the page. I get this in either IE (Ver 8) or Mozilla Firefox (Ver 3.6.18). It happened after I ran MalwareBytes which removed some stuff, not at the end like I normally see, but two different times mid-stream.

I also have Safari installed, and I'm able to log in to the Gmail account with it. Also, if I use a different computer, I can get in with either IE of Mozilla Firefox.

    Thanks in advance

Can you post/attach your Malwarebytes logs please, it'll give us an idea of where the problem is.

The issue is that it shows no detections, but I definitely had on two occasions while running MalwareBytes, a window popped up and did a removal mid-stream. Normally it's cleaned up things at the end.

I've cleared the cache and history - something I figured might help - but to no avail.

Try installing and testing your Gmail with this version of PaleMoon, it's based on Firefox but a little less bloated and a little faster.

    satrow - that works! Thanks!

Just curious, is it some setting in Firefox and IE that is causing it. Was working fine before running CCleaner and MalwareBytes.

    Thanks again

It might have been either program - or something else, that caused it. Always check the settings before running these programs and, with CCleaner, use the Analyze feature. Always check that you know and understand what's being removed before committing the action.

You can export your Bookmarks from FX then import them into PaleMoon.

Do a clean uninstall of FX to clear out whatever the bug was/is and then do a clean install of FX again, if you wanted:
I don't know what the problem is with IE, perhaps a repair would fix it?

Mozillazine forums recommend to untick all Firefox items in CCleaner as that can sometimes corrupt things. What exactly I don't know. Since PaleMoon shows up as Firefox in CCleaner (1), it would be wise to also untick all Fx items in CCleaner.

(1): I have both Firefox and PaleMoon so don't know if CCleaner will show Firefox by using only Palemoon.

satrow - thanks for the help. Re-install Firefox and brought my bookmarks, etc over and everything is fine.

oma - thanks for that tip. I'm sure that's what messed it up in the first place. CCleaner only does show Firefox - and I've unchecked those boxes.

Well so much for that. I unchecked all the selections related to Firefox, and now I can't access Gmail again. I've never had this issue when running CCleaner, but maybe it's something in the newer version I've recently loaded.

Any other suggestions? Gmail is the only thing that chokes - and it's pretty annoying. I can only access it from this PC by going to Safari, which has it's issues.

Update - Pale Moon does work. What's up with that Firefox?

    Thanks

You mean "Done" is displayed on the browser's Status bar, right? That's normal. So then, did you take the next step and click on Gmail at the top of that page?

The page comes up totally blank. On any other PC I log in to www.gmail.com, type in my username and password and my Inbox gets displayed.

Totally blank, no Google search box, right? You don't see what the attached image looks like?

When I go to www.google.com I see the screen you showed. When I log in to www.gmail.com I get the screen prompting me for username/password, and once I hit enter, it some up with a blank screen with the URL I posted in the original post

Yesterday I was logging in to a banking site and got this prompt saying it didn't recognize my computer and it was looking for Credit Card number, CVC number, etc - and it appeared to be a pop-up. I have run MalwareBytes and Super AntiSpyware and it comes up with nothing - but I have a feeling this was some attempt to get my passwords. I'm calling the bank today to see if it has that pop-up set up

Update - I had to re-install Super AntiSpyware, as after clicking on it, it would not run. So something is going on, yet Super AntiSpyware showed only Adware cookies, etc.

Anyone have any suggestions of what I should run? I really think there is something installed that popped up that window asking for Credit Card #, CVC # etc when I tried to log in to my banks site. I called them, and as far as the gentleman could tell me on the phone, they have no such thing installed.

I've got to be compromised in some way.

Can an admin move this over to the Malware Removal forum please? Now I think it's more appropriate over there.
