I've tried downloading and installing mozilla browser and firefox mutiple times, and every time i get the message "mozilla.exe/firefox.exe has generated errors and must be closed blah blah blah."

i dont know what to do to make it work.

Im running windows2000, would that be any problem at all?

anyone who knows what i could do to make it work?
    thanks in advance.

Have also experienced when messing around with Firefox, then it is not enough to reinstall Firefox on top of the existing install, and even when uninstalling Firefox some folders are still left around.

To make a clean reinstall of Firefox (Will loose profiles)
    1. Close down Firefox (Also check your task manager for any firefox.exe processes)
    2. Open "Control Panel" and use Add/Remove Programs and uninstall Mozilla Firefox (Answer yes to delete the install folder)
    3. Go to your Windows-Account folder usually: "C:\Documents and Settings\<YourLoginName>"
    4. Open "Application Data" (Hidden folder so make sure "Folder Options..." have been set to "Show hidden files and folders" and NOT to "Hide protected operating system files")
    5. Delete the "Mozilla" folder.
    6. Install Firefox 0.9.2 (Or whatever that is the lastest)

Seems you have a situation that is interesting for the Mozilla Developers.

What happens if you open your Start-menu and in the "Mozilla Firefox"-folder select "Mozilla Firefox (Safemode)" ?

Another option is to try a different Mozilla build instead of Mozilla 0.9.2, f.ex. one of the nightly branch-builds.

    http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/2004-07-10-09-0.9/

Is there any detail in the "blah blah blah" part of the message?

I take it you have all the necessary Windows updates?

the safemode one does the same crap.

the message says "firefix.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created"
i have no idea where the error log is placed.

Yeah i have all windows updates. and the odler version from the ftp did the same thing.

there has to be somethng wrong with my windows or something, i dont know.
