mp3 editor/splitter?

    Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for good mp3 splitting programs, pref free, of course. :)

    I need to cut off bits from the beginning/ends of songs, and don't want to convert to wav, reconvert, etc.

    I've got Audacity, and unless they changed it, I thought you had to convert to wav to edit tracks, am I wrong?
