    Hello there,
I have several CD'S that I put together from music downloaded from Itunes that I play in my car player. The cd's are starting to not play properly and I need to re-do them. Here's the thing, I don't have the original files in Itunes.
When that happens are the mp3 files on the disc still good? Can I just copy them onto a new disc? or are the files themselves damaged. I don't want to buy the songs again.
Hoping for an answer, old dog

When you put the CD in your computer, and navigate to the CD-ROM drive, are there .MP3 files on the disc, or have they been converted to a CD format to play in your car? (In other words, does your car stereo actually play .MP3s?)

If they are .MP3 files, I don't think there's anything stopping you from simply copying them off, and making another disc the same way you made the first.

If it is a CD format, you may want to consider imaging your discs (ie. turn the entire disc filesystem into a single file on your computer) and burning that image onto a new disc.

I'm a fan of Alcohol 52% for this process, but there are many others capable of the same, such as Nero, Roxio, and even (IIRC) the latest Windows Media Players. :)

    Thanks for the reply,
Yes they are mp3 files. I will try copying them and see what happens. Thanks again, old dog
