MP3 will no longer Play

I recently had to reload windows 2000 pro onto my computer. I have all my MP3 stored on a separate drive. After the reload and updating on Microsoft’s website the MP3's that play prior to the reload no longer play. I have tried WMP 9, Music Match 9, Real Player, and Winamp. Please let me know if there is any way to recover the MP3 files.

What happens when you try to play them? Do they sill have the mp3 extention in the name?

 

Can you access the drive that stores your mp3s?
(wondering if this might be a security issue where you might be "locked" out of the drive?)

 

I'm just curious did you try burning the mp3 files on a rewritable cd as a audio cd too see if the mp3 file is corrupted?
Also do you get any error messages when you try to play any of the mp3 files?
If you do what is the error message?

 

I have not yet tried to burn the MP3 to an audio CD, will try that later today. I have access to the drives where they are stored and mp3 is still in the extension. When I do go to play them they will act like they are playing (in all the audio players), no error messages, however I do not see a time (length of song) associated with it.

Did you open the audio properties to make sure nothing is muted?

 

I did donwload some MP3 and they will play in the players, however its just the ones prior to the rebuild that will not play. There file sizes are correct but like I siad when they are played in the players no sound and no time (lenghth of song).
