One the current version expires in December, it will be integrated into One Care which will most likely be subsription basied!

Sad if it come to this as MS has gone some way to give a bit of convidence back to users in light of the many publicized spyware loopholes, this app has gone a long way to giving users something to help check for spyware ( many other small great tools included ) for free, giving something back to the many who used their products, now they possibly taketh away!

I hope not but time will tell I guess.

"Today when I came in to the office, I was made aware of an issue which stated that a Microsoft Representative was quoted as saying Windows AntiSpyware would no longer be available for free.

The statement quoted in many forums is not true.

As we have been saying since day one, Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware will be available at no charge to licensed users of Windows. Users who validate their Windows install through WGA will be allowed to download the AntiSpyware beta, as well as the full standalone version of AntiSpyware when it releases to the web."

Cheers Jamiko on the updated truth... someone needs to neuter the MS reps or at least wire up their mouths!! not the first time they have jumped the gun on wrong news and sadly wont be the last.

Normally I sit on news items like this for a day or two, so I can read the msdn blogs for accurate story's but today was not one of those days ;)

Good to hear that they will still keep this free once final version is released.

Nice to know that MS may finally appreciate their customers. You guys are the bomb for finding the real truth.

Does anyone know when the full version is projected to be released?

Beta 2 is supposedly 1st quarter next year.

Just a guess really, since the current beta 1 expires at the end of this year.

Cool. I was beginning to think that they weren't even going to go beyond the first Beta 1 version.
