Any word on when the next version of this beast is coming out? I've gone into the settings, turned off all of the "autos" and even deleted the Run entry in the registry, but this thing still starts up with Windows...why?

Are you trying to say you do not want MS Antispyware to run? It is meant to run at startup inorder to properly hook itself in and provide protection. If you do not want it to run, why not just uninstall it?

All I want from it is to have a manual scan every other week or so. Nothing more.

If you have no other spyware blocking tools installed, you need more than just the scanners. If you have others installed, uninstall MS Antispyware and use the others (like Spybot or Ad-Aware SE).
