I have been having problems w/keyboard for last few weeks. Sometimes when I boot up it is fine and device manager shows no problem. Sometimes, it does not type letters, and it show and "i" in yellow on Device manager. Although I have tried uninstall and add new hdwre or disable, usually a new boot will correct for awhile. Sometimes if computer has been on for awhile it will just lose it and develop problem I cannot tell if it is an IRQ conflict, dont think so.
Now, it will work fine with everything but my new load of Word 2007, which as soon as I touch a letter kicks into Microsoft problem, shutting down and send to MS stuff.
I have checked system by changing to a different keyboard and it has the same issues. Have not checked my keyboard on other system.
My guess is a registry problem, which I scan daily.
    Anybody got any thoughts

It is very probably the port you are using for your keyboard, PS/2 or usb. If something like that happens, then you have to change your whole keyboard, but this isn't possible most times, so you'll have to get yourself a k/b of different type.
