In a moment of insanity I downloaded the beta version of Office 2007. Lots of things went awry, so I removed it. Then used System Restore to go back to an earlier date.

Almost everything seems to be back to normal except MSWord 2002. So I decided to remove it and reinstall. When I went into the control panel it wouldn't let me remove it and I got the message: "This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package." While in the Add/Remove area I noticed that I have 2 identical entries for Adobe Reader. When I attempted to remove one of those I got the same a/m message.

    What do I do now?

I have a Dell Dimension 4550, Windows XP, 512 Ram, 60% free space.

Thanks Matacumbie and Toni. That did the trick and everything seems to be back to normal.
How would I survive without this forum!

Toni deserves all the credit. :)

I was just letting you know we had the utility here at MG's.
