MS Outlook keeps shutting down

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 running Windows XP with SP 2 and all MS updates installed (including those for MS Office). I am using Office XP Professional with Outlook 2002. Here is what is happening:

I click on the Outlook icon to start it. It opens and then immediate shuts down (Outlook only, not Windows). I see the Inbox, which is the default initial view. Then Outlook immediately shuts down. I wait for a while (10 minutes) and click on the Outlook icon again. It opens VERY quickly, much more quickly than usual, and then just as quickly Outlook shuts down. I cannot get it to stay open for more than a few seconds.

There are two users of this compter, each with their own profile/login, and this is only happening in one of the profiles. Outlook seems to function fine in the other use profile. I have rebooted the computer several times and the same thing keeps happening.

I updated and ran full, deep system scans with Norton Antivirus, AdAware SE Personal and Spybot Search & Destroy, in that order.

Does this sound familiar? Any ideas?

Nope. Outlook isn't even listed once in the task manager.

 

You can try creating a new profile and see if that works.
