I have a PPS file someone sent that I would like to extract the WAV file out of that it uses to use elsewhere. Anyone familiar with Powerpoint know how or if this can be done?

    Many Thanks

    Hi

PowerPpint presentations have the sound files attached two ways if below ( IIRC of the embedding size ) 100kb they are imbedded in which the below should allow you to extract them, or they will be saved on the PC or on whatever media ( CD, USB ) in a separate folder as PP doesnt embed sounds over 100KB, but links to a file location.

Workaround but a bit of a pain to do or more fiddly than anything, but re-save the presentation as a webpage

    File > Save as Webpage

You should now have in the location you saved the file into a HTM/HTML PP file and a Folder with the name of the presentation and the word files attached ( eg, mypowerpointdoc_files ) open this folder up and you should find those sound clips.

I saved file but it saved it as a .mht file and I don't see any folder as you suggested
    Original PPS file was 310kb

    Thanks

    Hi

I guess your using Office 2003? at the time I will have been using Office XP so the command or way of saving is slightly different.

Try this..... same route to using File > Save as Web Page > this time click the Publish button and a new box will open in this look for File Name and change the .mht to .html > click Publish.

This time you should have a folder as well as a PP HTML icon, I did re-create these steps in Office 2003 to double check steps above.

No probs, I actually thought that the steps would have been similar in both versions but alas not, but glad you have the file you need now :)

The folder that is created after making it a HTML file contains the files from the .PPS.
The .WAV file is in this folder and you don't lose the original .PPS file.
The folder will be in same location that you saved the html file to.
Said folder will have same name as original file.
