MS updates

i am currently DLing 8 updates totalling abt 12M. as the DL progresses, it's reading "3.3M of 484k", "4.7M of 484k", "6.2M of 484k", etc. this is a new one on me. why isn't the "total" figure properly reflecting the update totals?!

i'm guessing 484k might be the size of update #1. have to wait till all 8 wrap up to see for sure (dialup, so total time on the order of 5 hrs). but still. this is the first time i've EVER seen updates misrepresent this total number.

why oh why? and is it just me, or are others seeing likewise on the current batch?

No idea, I did 17 updates today for Win7 + Office and all came in ok with no weird size reporting, it could just be a freaky one off anomalie, at times the WU servers depending on what one your coming off may have weird issues, at times they give wrong updates to machines that dont need them (they just fail to install and dont cause issues)

Could be your DUN in being not like broadband in that with the slow data transfer so data packets could have been lost so the max size of the individual updates all got reported as the same size.

Just wait and see how the updates go.

the updates went fine, and 484k was, in fact, NOT the size of any one among them!

no CLUE what happened there.

mine were XP, btw.
