I have an elderly friend on a fixed income who wants MS Word. Can he buy just Word without having to buy the bundle (Excel, powerpoint etc)? He is not very computer savvy, unfortunately.

    Hi

Yes he can as Word will come on its own and HERE (Microsoft Store only supplies in the main the latest versions) and HERE are two examples but you can look online in many various retailers for a cheap version as the stand alone versions are not cheap as you may find that a local computer group for the retired or if he is in adult learning that a Home and Student version is available of the whole Office package fairly cheaply, compaired to the standalone versions.

Weirdly Office 2007 Home and Student is dearer at Amazon, and a few other places I looked, maybe dwindling supplies.

Could look on ebay (we dont list ebay links as searching on eBay is enough advertising for them anyways) but do look at the sellers reputation.

*the alternate is Open Office, which is free and works just like Word, but its just an suggestion over the above retail options for MS Word.
