MSCOMCTL.OCX and sxstrace errors

Hi all

I have a couple of problems with my pc. Firstly when trying to run TAS Basics program I get a message telling me that MSCOMCTL.OCX cannot be found (or something similar). I tried the advice on this page but when I try to save the fil to Wow64 I get this message:

! C:\Users\Terry\Downloads\mscomctl.zip: Cannot create MSCOMCTL.OCX
Access is denied.

What am I doing wrong?

The other problem I have is a sidebyside error when trying to run the iCloud program.

Any help will be very gratefully received!

 

Aha! I have managed to put the file in the C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder but when I follow the advice below I get the message:

'regsvr' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

Feel like I'm nearly there just need a little tweek! Please help

Tried what you suggested but it didn't work. Looked on various online forums and in the end I succeeded by doing the following (hopefully this might help for anyone else on Windows 7 experiencing this issue!)

1. downloading a new mscomctl.ocx file - can be found at http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/mscom...

I unzipped this and saved this to the C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder

2. Going to Start - All Programs - Accessories - Control Prompt

3. Right clicking the Control Prompt option and selecting "Run As Administrator"

4. In the command prompt window, typing first of all "cd C:\Windows\SysWOW64"

5. Then at the next command prompt typing "regsvr mscomctl.ocx"

This got the component re-installed and now TAS works fine.

 

I did it!!!

This line:

5. Then at the next command prompt typing "regsvr mscomctl.ocx"

Should have 32 in in like so:
"regsvr32 mscomctl.ocx"


So now just the sidebyside error to resolve....
