Hello. Sorry to ask a silly question, but I'm not quite sure if the instructions in Read and Run First regarding Msconfig are telling me to make sure it is used, or if it should not be used. Please understand that I'm easily confused by the intricacies of computers, and will have to take everything very slowly.

The reason for my confusion is that the instructions say "Msconfig must be set for Normal Startup mode"
...then it says "You MUST be sure that MSconfig is not being used to control Startups".

So, are "Startups" and "Normal Startup" two different things? How do I know which is which, and which I am currently using?

    Thank-you.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!
Simply put.... if you run MSconfig and make sure that Normal Startup mode is checked then you will not be using MSconfig to control anything. If it is not in normal startup mode, you are using MSconfig to stop something from loading.
