I just got a new Dell XPS420 and of course there are about a thousand things that I would like to take out of my startup menu as so many of them I do not use and they just take up resources that are better used elsewhere. My problem is that a lot of them I cannot identify. Is there a site somewhere that can tell a person what the abbreviations are? I used to use pacsportal but it seems that it is now not what it used to be. TIA, BocceMon

My laptop came with Windows Vista pre-installed, but the DVD's for both Vista and XP + the applications DVD were also included. Since I didn't want Vista, I had to format the hard drive and install XP from scratch per instructions that came with the computer. When it came to the programs I chose custom installation, and that way avoided all the useless hanger-ons. If you have the install disks, then that's one option.
