What starts to flash? Laptop has power but won't start? If the laptop won't power up, you have a huge problem that you most likely can;t repair yourself, if at all.

An easy option, though hard for the average user, is to find another adapter and see if it works. It's very rare for an adapter to fail, however.

It's worth trying a different adapter. The green light on the power supply only indicates there is power - not how much. I've seen a few adapters that have failed where the output drops to the point it will neither charge or power the PC but the green light stays on.

I've run into this a few times in the past few years on repair issues in my shop. I can't guarantee it will solve the problem; however it's worth a try.

I have similar issue with an AE2020 I'm investigating on behalf of a neighbour. Unloaded, the PSU puts out 19v and the LED lights. Plug the PSU into the unit and the LED extinguishes.

It's either a faulty PSU or there is something in the PC that pulls a lot of current and the PSU has a self-protection circuit and shuts down to prevent burn-out. I know not which but I have seen reference to this fault elsewhere on the web.

Buying a new PSU only to find it's a fault on the PC isn't a sensible option so I'm looking for insight as to which is the more likely option from anyone with experience of same.
