Just download the missing dll. If you don't know where to put it, stick it in the windows/system32 folder, by default it will check for dll files there if it can't find them elsewhere.

It's fairly easy to find pretty much any dll file you might be missing.

For future ref, it is advisable to remove Works before installing Office.

    Why?

I was at the MS website and saw this -

    Upgrade Eligibility
Determine whether your current version of Microsoft Office qualifies you for the $239 US upgrade price. The following products qualify:

    Microsoft Works
    Works 6.0, 7.0 or 8.0
    Works Suite 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, or 2006

If you can get by with the upgrade version you will save about $160 US dollars.

But if you have removed the Works Suite how will the upgrade work?

Dunno why. Just what MS advised when I got a new comp. and wanted to use Office instead of the Works suite it came with.

You can use the installation disk as proof that you own the product. Doesn't need to be installed.

Is it still saying it can't find it? Are you sure it's complaining about the same DLL? You may have been missing more then one, so make sure it's still complaining abotu the same thing.

Are you sure it's in the C:\windows\system32 folder? Because any app should see it if it's there.

as coco stated there might be multiple dll files missing. you could always search for them on the internet (being cautious about where you are getting them from), there are some legit sites. however, when i was missing a dll file, i'd just search for it on a different computer of mine, or ask a friend.

and defraging your computer won't help this problem, it'll just help your computer overall. - sos
