Hi all. I'm a newbie and have a small problem. i had win 7 installed then installed win10 on another partition.
The multi choice screen stopped appearing so I had to run the following as admin from the cmd prompt.
"bcdedit /set {bootmgr} displaybootmenu yes". This has brought the choice screen back but only lists win 7,
no win 10. I'd be really grateful if anyone has any suggestions.

Are you saying it worked initially and you could boot to either OS, or that it hasn't worked at all?

I firstly installed win 7 onto the primary partition (c:). Then win10 on the secondary (w:) and every time I turned the pc on I would get a DOS type screen giving me the choice to boot 7 or 10.
I recently had problems with win 7 and re-installed it on the primary partition. Now, I still get the dos type screen bot only listing win 7. In msconfig/boot there is only win 7 where previously
    there were both systems listed.

Thanks for your reply, I hope you can help.

You will have to also re-install Windows 10.

Reinstalling 7 overwrote the boot sector where your dual boot config was stored but it's correctable. Purists would use the built-in bcdedit.exe but far easier, and more versatile, would be to install EasyBCD. EasyBCD will detect your two Windows installations and automatically configure its boot menu for you. EasyBCD can also boot bootable CD/DVD isos, very useful.

Had to pop out in a hurry but wanted to add that the free version is at the bottom of the page - that's all you need.

Thanks to everyone for helping this newbie. It really is appreciated. I'm all sorted now by using EasyBCD. It ewas a doddle.
    Thanks again,

Pleased you are sorted. If you use any bootable CDs such as Acronis etc then do try the boot from iso feature.
