multi platform chat client suggestions?

I have been using Pidgin for over a year now and I love it. However when I try to transfer files, I always get an error when trying to transfer a file to someone on my AIM accounts. It always says that I must be direct connected to send IM Images. The MSN side of things, no problems at all.

I tried doing the same thing with Trillian and same thing happened there. Now with Trillian, I checked their forums and this appears to be a problem with their software for years now, and I vaguely remember that being the case a few years back when I tried it with them.

Can anyone think why this is a problem with Pidgin, or anyone else have that problem?
